Welcome to the A9.org The A9 spans 273 Miles from the central Belt nr Falkirk to Thurso in the far Northern Highlands of Scotland. The new A9 was mostly rebuilt from the 70's until the 90's. Ongoing works on the current road concentrate on accident Blackspots of the road, with new 3 lane (2/1) lanes and short spans of dual carriageway, it is debatable whether these are bringing down accident rates, however, and many are now calling for the entire A9 to be dualled. The A9.org is a graphic representation of todays A9, giving information for travellers, maps and a directory of businesses which are within a Mile sideways of the road, as well as accident news and works information, making the website invaluable for business travellers and goods haulers who use the road regularly. The website is a not for profit one, the main aim is to highlight safety, with galleries of significant accidents which have taken place to show exactly what happens when care is not taken, and you can also read our important tips on staying safe on this large stretch of road routinely named "The Killer". Enjoy the website, and read the important information before travelling. |
